The 10th Carrefour International du Bois was held on the 28th, 29th and 30th of May
Notching up 9,528 visitors over three days, an increasing proportion of whom were professionals from abroad and over 500 exhibitors, this anniversary year proved to be a great success, despite a more uncertain economic climate than that of 2006.
Proving that the timber industry is still in a dynamic, this healthy turnout also confirms a heightened awareness of the event organised by Atlanbois and the Nantes - Saint Nazaire Port Authority.
«Don't change anything. All the people who come here have something to do with the timber industry. We could have been worried about the fact that people would be morose due to the economic situation, but we come away feeling reassured» said amongst others, Michel Hamon, President of Abibois, the regional trade association for Brittany, exhibitor on the show.
Sawers, panel manufacturers, traders, distributors, transformers...; the first reactions obtained on the stands confirms the support for the identity of the Carrefour and its role as a mediator. Everyone considered the show as the event that is not to be missed in Europe.
There have been many highlights during the anniversary event, including:
- The national forest and timber interprofessional association ?France Bois Forêt', taking part in the show for the first time.
- The AGM of the FEBO (European Timber Trade Association) and the Timber Trade Responsible Purchasing forum organised by Le Commerce du Bois (the French timber trade federation)
- The architect Hermann Kaufmann, winner of the 2007 International Award for Sustainable Architecture and the timber engineer Konrad Merz, both of whom contributed to the highly successful series of Timber Technical & Solutions area conferences.
